The collection comprises correspondence, clippings, and reports relating to the Morrill Act, Hatch Act reports, policy level papers by the Board, legal papers concerning University real estate, and correspondence between the Board secretary and the University purchasing agent. A separate portfolio contains items relating to the appointment of O.E. Merriman as Regent. Also included are two volumes of the by-laws of the University of Minnesota: one volume of the laws 1870-1874 and one of the revision of July 30, 1874.

The West Bank Union at the University of Minnesota was established in 1967 to offer services to students. It took until 1980 for the union to have its own space in Willey Hall, including an auditorium and lounge spaces for students.
